Get up to speed with the latest Fathom product news. Here’s a quick wrap-up of the features we’ve recently released.

Custom financial statement titles

Custom Financials title

Are you reporting for a non-profit or not-for-profit company and need to rename the Profit & Loss? Do you want to include the company name at the top of the Cash Flow Statement? Would you like to specify the date for the Balance Sheet?

We've added several new capabilities to financial statements, enabling you to create custom titles. These capabilities include:

  • Hiding the default financial statement title
  • Typing in your own financial statement title
  • Including the division, company, or consolidated group name with placeholder text
  • Adding the date in short form (e.g. October 2023) or long form (e.g. October 31st, 2023) with placeholder text

If you add a company name to a title with placeholder text, the name will update when you share that report to another company in your Fathom organisation.

Using placeholder text to add a date to a financial statement title also ensures that the date will update if you schedule a report to be created for a future month, quarter, or year.

Long Date Format

To take advantage of the new custom titles option, simply add a Financials table to your report. When you click the green ‘Pencil’ icon to edit the table, you’ll see the custom title options.

New calendar YTD variance columns

CYTD Budget Variance

As part of our July 2022 product updates, we enabled Calendar YTD columns in reporting. The Calendar YTD option appears if you’re reporting for a company with a financial year that does not match the calendar year.

After releasing that update, we received requests for additional Calendar YTD reporting options. In response, we have added the following Calendar YTD variance columns:

  • Calendar YTD v Calendar YTD Budget variance (both % and $)
  • Calendar YTD v Calendar YTD Target variance (both % and $)

You’ll find the Calendar YTD budget variance columns under the ‘Variance’ sections when adding a column to a Financials table. If you’re adding a column to a KPI table, you’ll find both the Calendar YTD budget and target variance columns under the ‘Variance’ sections.
